Day 3: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series
![]() |
| "Black & White Puppy Dog" Pastel on Illustration Board, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H |
My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 27 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)
But just look at Day 3's painting! : isn't this cute 'lil black and white puppy dog adorable? Makes you just want to jump into your computer screen, pick him up, and cuddle and hold him, doesn't it?
This particular painting, unlike my last two, was done using pastels. I enjoy oil painting, as well, but occasionally I like to switch it up a bit using different mediums. I simply just love the versatility of art! There are so many things in this life to paint and so many different ways to paint them!
Tomorrow, for Day 4's 30 in 30, I will be unveling another "Every and Anything" painting and I have a bit of a surprise for you. But I can't tell you what . . . If you wanna know, stayed tuned and come back, here, to "The Blog of SamDoum Art" tomorrow!
Until then, 'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

| "Bright Orange Pumpkin" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H |
My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 28 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)
Day 2's painting is a beautiful fall painting of an orange pumpkin! Great to decorate any wall space for Halloween or/and Thanksgiving. I know that it's cold outside and that we are in the middle of winter here in the eastern parts of the United States, but I couldn't resist. I just had to paint this pumpkin! It's reference photo nearly jumped of the page at me and said, "Paint me!"
Anyway, I hope you enjoy!
Tomorrow, for Day 3's 30 in 30, I will be unveiling another "Every and Anything" painting. Will it be another still life?, a pet portrait?, a landscape? Hmmmmmm . . . I don't know . . . but if you want to know . . . stay tuned . . .
Until then, 'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Hello everyone! Please take a look at these paintings . . .
Today's painting's were painted sometime in September and November 2014, but have not been seen on this blog yet, so I thought I'd share them with you. Just clickon the "Buy Now" button(s), follow the directions that follow, and the painting(s) will be all yours!
Over the last few days, I've been trying to come up with a theme for the new 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge (which will be in January) with no success. I just can't narrow it down! I love to paint everything from still lifes to animal portraits, from landscapes to people portraits!
Soooooo . . . I was thinking . . . Why even pick a theme? Or better yet . . . Why not choose an "Every and Anything" theme instead?
Yep, in January 2015 I will be painting a little of everything and anything for the painting challenge. So be sure to stop by this blog everyday in January, starting with tomorrow, to be surprised by what new paintings I unveil!: I may paint some landscapes, some florals, some portraits, some still lifes . . . Who knows?! I'm open to any and everything!
Enjoy and 'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

I'm gonna do it!
Take a look at this photo . . .

| Photo by Beth Brown |
Okay! So . . . I guess I'll be doing another 30 in 30 in January! A fellow artist and art buddy, Joan Princing has convinced me!
Joan is a very talented artist (whose work can be seen here) and she will be doing the challenge in January too! Having the support from other fellow artist friends really helps when you are doing a painting challenge and it's always encouraging to get feedback from fellow artists, like Joan. I truly appreciate all of the support and kind words from my fellow artists, and the comments on this blog and Facebook. And despite the 30 in 30 challenges being . . . well, challenging, they are a lot of fun, and frankly, I just don't want to miss out on all the fun! So, Joan, I'll be joining you, in January, for another 30 paintings in 30 days painting challenge! Yaaaaaaay!
Joan is actually the one who suggested and encouraged me to use all of the paintings from two of the previous painting challenges as illustrations for childrens books, as discussed in my last post.
Also in my last post, I discussed how successful the 30 in 30 challenges have been for me, and I gave the two childrens books that I have written, and illustrated, as examples of that success. However, I also told you that I would tell you about the most recent success that I have had with the last 30 in 30 challenge. And here it is:
While in the process of painting for the most recent 30 in 30 Painting challenge that took place back in September 2014, I submitted two separate artworks to an art show at a local gallery here in Rochester NY. The art gallery's name is called "The Shoe Factory," and the two pieces that I submitted were apart of a show there titled "Sirens and Seahorses". Having submitted those two pieces, the director of the gallery became familiar with some of my other art works, (particularly the still life paintings that I had been doing for the 30 in 30 in September) via my blog and website, and requested to see them in person. I showed her all of the still lifes from the 30 in 30 and she then took about 18 of the paintings to hang in her gallery, and made me a new house artist at Shoe Factory! So now about 18 of my 8x10 30 in 30 paintings hang on a 4 by 8 panel in her gallery! And I'm super excited because it truly is a blessing! And if I had not participated in the last 30 in 30, it might not have happened.
Recently, Beth Brown, the director of The Shoe Factory Gallery posted several images on Facebook of my new 4 by 8 panel at The Shoe Factory. And hopefully she doesn't mind, but I've used one of those photos, right here in this blog post -- above, in order to show you my new panel.
So you see, doing another 30 in 30 is so worth it! It can be a bit challenging and overwhelming, and time consuming, but I'm ready to give it a try and do it again! So be sure to keep checking back on The Blog of SamDoum Art in January 2015, and before then, as well, as I will continue posting even up until then.
Well that's all for now! 'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care and God bless!

Should I do it?
![]() |
| "Bald Eagle in Profile" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H |
Guess what? Leslie Saeta is hosting another 30 in 30 Painting challenge in January! Will I participate? I really don't know, but I'm seriously thinking about it! It's a lot of hard work: 30 paintings in 30 days, but the effort is so worth it! I've had nothing but success stories from doing the 30 in 30 challenges!
During one challenge, my theme had been "animals" and as a result of painting all those animal paintings (30 of 'em to be exact), I was able to create my 2015 Animal Calender and create my gorgeous children's picture book "Grab My Hand", as I used many animal illustrations from that particular 30 in 30 challenge, in both projects.
Also, I used the paintings from another 30 in 30 challenge, as illustrations in another picture book titled "Snowflakes." Both of my children's picture books are now for sale on Amazon.com and can be found here and here.
In my next post, I will tell you about the successes that I've had with the most recent 30 in 30 challenge.
For now, I hope that you enjoy todays painting of a beautiful bald eagle in profile. He has such a serious look on his face, doesn't he? Well, I guess all bald eagles do!
Anyway, I wish you all a wonderful Friday!
Take care fellow art lovers and God bless!

My Liittle Secret

| "Glass & Grapes" Oil on Canvas, 8"x10", Original Painting , $25+$10.95 Shipping & Handling |
My theme, you say?
Well, the first time I did the challenge I did 30 "Kaleidoscopic Snowflakes" as my theme and then for my second challenge, my theme had been "Wildlife and Animals". But this new September's theme will be "Metal & Glass". For my next 30 in 30 challenge I will be studying reflections, and light, and everything that sparkles! I will also be studying shadows, and color.
I chose "Metal & Glass" as my theme, in order to help me grow in my skills as an artist. How can studying Metal and Glass strengthen my skills as an artist, you ask?
Well, you'll just have to wait until tomorrow's blog post in order to find out how.
Today's featured painting, displays not only grapes, but glass, and there will be a whole lot of more paintings like this one coming soon, so stay tuned!
Anyway, 'til later fellow art lovers!

Day 30 of 30 in 30 Painting Challenge: Animals: "Elephant Paintings"
![]() |
| Original 8x10 Pastel Painting For Sale - "Elephant Paintings" : $50.00+ $6.95 Shipping and Handling |
It's January 30th, 2014 and Day 30 of the January Leslie Saeta 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge, and you know what that means . . . Yup! It's the last and final Day of Leslie Saeta's January, 2014 Painting Challenge! Yaaaaaaaaaay! Hoooooooraaaaay! And Yipppppppeeeee! I did it! 30 entire paintings in 30 days! But I have to be honest with you, although it's been a lot of fun, it's also been so difficult! I'm amazed that I was able to find the time to create 30 Paintings!: In between the laundy, the dishes, cleaning my little girls bedrooms, helping my little girls with their homework, cooking, and still having family time, I still managed to find some time to paint! Amazing! Balancing family life with my art life has been the most difficult part of the challenge. There just never seemed to be enough time. But whew! The challenge is finally over and I can finally take a break, relax, and enjoy my family! Yay!
Today's painting is titled "Elephant Paintings." This painting was inspired by an email sent to me by a fellow artist named Joan Princing who purchased one of my paintings. In the email she sent me, she expressed how much she loved the painting when it arrived, and also why she loved it so much. The painting that she purchased was of a baby and mother elephant whose trunks interlocked, both holding a leaf in between them. She explained that when her daughter was younger, the two of them would often go to the zoo. During one of their visits Joan purchased a t-shirt which featured an elephant's painting (that is, a t-shirt painted by an elephant). When Joan got home from the zoo with her daughter, she affixed that particular t-shirt to a peice of cardboard and framed it as art. The painting that she purchased from me, "Baby and Mother Elephant", now hangs beside that particular elephant's painting.
When I read Joan's story I was fascinated by it in many ways. I wondered "Wow! An elephant painting? That is amazing! I would love to see it!" So I went online and ran a search on it,and pulled up images, video clips and articles about and of elephants painting. And I saw elephants painting flowers, and trees . . . And some elephants in the photos I saw, actually even painted elephants!--That is, paintings of themselves! So cool!
But how do they do it? Well according to the articles that I read, elephants don't actually know what they are painting. They just take cues from their trainers who stand closely and nearby to the elephant, pulling on his ear. If the trainer wants the elephant to paint up, the trainer gently tugs the elephants ear upward, if down, then downward, if left, then leftward . . . you get the idea, right? Also the trainer assists in changing and cleaning the brushes. The elephant has no part in it. So that's the mystery solved. But elephants are still amazing!
If you look closely in today's painting, you can see the trainer, tugging on the little elephants ear, as the elephant takes direction from his trainer, which type of stroke to make next. Pretty cool 'eh?
Well, my friends, that's all for now from SamDoum Art! Thanks so much to all of you who continue to visit my blog! I really appreciate it! Take care and God bless!
'Til later fellow art lovers!
