Day 24: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Miriam's Portrait" Pastel on Illustration Board, 8"x 10", Original Painting NOT FOR SALE

Hello everyone! It's January 24, 2015 and today is Day 24 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 6 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

This is a pastel portrait of my little girl, Miriam, who is seven. She is the fraternal twin of my other daughter, Faith, whose portrait I posted yesterday.

I don't think that I'm quite satisfied with how my three little girls portraits have come out over the last few days. I think that I'll spend a little more time working on them and then when I am content, I plan to hang them in our living room, maybe. Or perhaps another room in the house? . . . Hmmm . . . Not sure which room they'd look best in, but I'll keep thinking about it :)

Anyway, that's all for now from the Blog of SamDoum Art!' Til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Day 23: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Faith's Portrait" Pastel on Illustration Board, 8"x 10", Original Painting NOT FOR SALE

Hello everyone! It's January 23, 2015 and today is Day 23 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 7 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

Wow! Only a week more to go in this challenge! I'm determined not to miss any more days so I painted ahead, in case if things get too busy and I need a back up painting.

This is a pastel portrait of my little girl Faith, who is seven. She is the twin of my other daughter Miriam, whose portrait I will post tomorrow. They are fraternal twins so they look a little different from each other which means tomorrows painting will feature another little girl (my daughter) with different features than this one (my other daughter).

Switching gears, I just wanted to thank all of those who have been following this blog. Day 10: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Two Jugs, Flowers and a Lemon," Pastel on Illustration Board, 8"x10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H
Hello everyone! It's January 10th, 2015 and today is Day 10 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 20 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

Oh my goodness! We are exactly one-third of the way there! We've already completed ten days in the challenge and now there is just 20 more to go! Phew! I hope that I can keep up. I'm hoping that I won't miss any days in this challenge, as I did with the last one.

Today's painting is a still life of two jugs, flowers and a lemon, done using pastels. I love the colors in this one: the browns, the green the yellows, the small "pops" of red from the flowers. I also like the composition, which I modified a bit from it's original photo reference.

Tomorrow, for Day 11's 30 in 30, I will be unveiling another "Every and Anything"  painting. Until then, I hope to see you back on the Blog of SamDoum Art!

I'm kind of a little later then usual posting today because, when I got up this morning, I was a little overwhelmed by all of the household chores I had to do, so I thought I'd tackle those first before painting and posting.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy today's painting. It's a pet portrait of a cute little kitty cat whose reference photo I found online.  This one was doneusing pastels instead of oil paint, as I often like to switch it up a bit.

Tomorrow,
for Day 10's 30 in 30, I will be unveiling another "Every and Anything"  painting. Until then, I hope to see you back on the Blog of SamDoum Art!

How about a nice, tasty, juicy slice of watermelon? Yum! The perfect summer time snack!

Too bad it doesn't grow year round here on the east coast. But I plan to plant some watermelon seeds in our backyard (amongst other fruits and vegetables) this upcoming summer 2015. It'll be a lot of fun to garden with my three little girls.

Winter's not even half way through and I'm already planning for summer. Kind of funny eh?

Well, as pretty as snow is, I still prefer the warmer months and I can't wait for winter to be over. It's been bitter cold out there the last few days. . .

Anyway, tomorrow,
for Day 8's 30 in 30, I will be unveling another "Every and Anything"  painting. Until then, I hope to see you back on the Blog of SamDoum Art tomorrow!

Both paintings were a lot of fun to do. I truly enjoy using pastels, and especially when drawing fruit!

Tomorrow, for Day 7's 30 in 30, I will be unveiling another "Every and Anything"  painting. However, I'm not sure what it will be. But if you wanna know, stay tuned . . .

Hello everyone! Look what's drying on the easel ! ! !

I have my new painting which was inspired from last week's "What Should I Paint Wednesday" for you today! After the voting on Facebook, last week, this still life of red roses in a silver vase won out.

Love the softness of this piece which kind of reminds me of pastel -- But it isn't. This piece: "Red Roses in a Silver Vase" was painted in oil paint! Fooled ya, didn't I?

I thought I'd switch things up from my usual pastels and decided to do an oil painting today! A rarity from me!  :)

I hope you enjoy!

Oh  --  And P.S.
Please don't forget to vote on Facebook tomorrow in order to vote on what gets painted next week!

Good afternoon! Hope your having a wonderful Tuesday!

Last week, on Wednesday, we started a new tradition here at  SamDoum Art called "What Should I Paint Wednesdays" and for the first " What Should I Paint Wednesday"   ( last week) I posted three photographs of still life's on FaceBook and asked for you to vote on which one you'd like for  me to paint with my pastels. So here's my 4th pastel still life in my pastel still life series which is also your pastel painting pick for last week's "What Should I Paint Wednesday." I hope you enjoy!

Onward with Still Lifes!

Original Painting: "Wine Glass, Grapes, and Flowers": 8"x10"
Pastel on Illustration Board $75 USD

As discussed in my last blog posts, I have a few children's book projects that I've been working on. But I wanted to take a break from discussing those projects, today, and instead wanted to discuss something new.

A few weeks ago, I realized that I hadn't done a still life painting in over ten years! Wow!

So I decided to take on new (well renewed anyway) terrain by getting back into the swing of things when it comes to still lifes.

So for the next month or more, I will be setting up my studio, arranging various objects in the best light, and painting from them. I will also use some images from a site called "Paint my photo" which allows artists to paint from photographers photos without any copyright worries. And then, I should, hopefully, have a new collection of still lifes to add to the SamDoumArt.com store!

So stay tuned to see what else I create! The painting above is the 1st in my still life series. This painting was painted in pastels, of course-- my most favorite medium to work with. I love how the dark background makes the objects (wine glass, grapes, and flowers) "pop" into the foreground. How do you like it?

I hope you enjoy!

Til later fellow art lovers!
