Day 30: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Landscape of River with Tree and Swing in Autumn" Pastel on Illustration Board, 12"x12", Original Painting FOR SALE: $95.00 + $10.95 S&H

Hello everyone! It's January 30, 2015 and today is Day 30 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge! Yay! We made it to the end of the challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge has been "Every and Anything" and over the past month I have been painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

I'm so proud of myself and of all of the artists who have participated in the Leslie Saeta painting challenge. It hasn't been easy, but we made it! Yaaaay! We did it!

Today's painting, which is my final painting for the challenge is a landscape of a river with a tree and swing in Autumn. I love all of the colorful fall foliage and the beautiful steep mountain in the background. I love that a rainbow of colors are used within this single composition. And I especially love how the green grasses pull you right into the painting in the foreground. This painting was a pleasure to paint, for me, as it was done using pastels, which are one of my favorite mediums to work with & hope you enjoy this pastel painting as much as I do!

So . . . that does it! Another 30 in 30 challenge completed!

I just wanted to thank all of those who have been following this blog and all of those who will continue to follow this blog beyond the challenge. Tomorrow, I will be posting a collage of all the finished paintings from this month's challenge. So stay tuned!

Until then, and 'til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Day 29: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Garlic, Eggs in Silver Bowl, and Onion" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H

Hello everyone! It's January 29, 2015 and today is Day 29 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the past few weeks I have been painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

This is a still life oil painting of Garlic, some Eggs in Silver Bowl, and an Onion.

I think that this one came out really nice. I don't know, but I think that I really enjoy painting garlic and onions. They're truly  quickly becoming two of my favorite things to paint. It's just so much fun painting them! :)

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy today's painting.

Tomorrow is Day 30! Yep, only one more day for the painting challenge! . . . Hooray! I'm super excited!

What will my last painting for the challenge be? Will it be another still life, a pet portrait, a person portrait, a landscape, a kaleidoscopic snowflake? Hmmmmm . . . You'll just have to wait and see!

I'll see you tomorrow for the last day of the 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge! 'Til then, and 'til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Day 28: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"White Onion, Red Onion, and Green Onion" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting SOLD

Hello everyone! It's January 28, 2015 and today is Day 28 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for
this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 2 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

This is a still life oil painting of a White Onion, Red Onion, & a Green Onion, and my husband loves it so much that he bought it, even before I finished painting it! :)

I had been painting in the basement along with my mom, as she had been working on an lily painting, and we were having so much fun, painting, laughing, listening to music and enjoying ourselves, and then my husband came downstairs laid eyes on the painting, said he wanted it and then bought it! Yay!

Truthfully, it's one
of my favorites too, so I'm so happy that it won't leave our house. We get to hang it in our kitchen instead. And I can look at it anytime I want to with no worries of missing my painting.

Hmmm, I wonder if other artists go through that . . . seperation anxiety from their paintings, I mean. Sometimes it's hard to let go, especially as to where it concerns your best paintings. Luckily, however, I do take really good photographs of all my work, before I place them for sale, so I'll always have a "small peice" of my sold paintings when I look at their photos.

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy todays painting. Tomorrow is Day 29! And then after that, I will be posting only one more painting for this challenge! Yep, almost there . . . Hooray!

I'll see you tomorrow for Day 29! 'Til then, and 'til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Day 27: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Sunflowers & a Daisy" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H

Hello everyone! It's January 27, 2015 and today is Day 27 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 3 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

This is a still life oil painting of several sunflowers & a daisy. I love the restricted color palette most about this piece: the yellows, the browns, the whites, and the little hints of green on the leaves and stems of the flowers.

I see this piece as peaceful, calm, subtle, sunny, and soothing. It just creates that sort of mood in me when I look at it. It just gives me a "quiet" smile when I look at it. It makes me happy!

I hope it does the same for you! :)

Anyway, tomorrow is Day 28! And then after that, I will be posting only two more paintings for this challenge! Can you believe it? We are almost there . . . Yay!

I'll see you tomorrow for Day 28! 'Til then, and 'til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Day 26: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Orange Marmalade in Glass Jars with Spoon and Dish Cloth" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10",
Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H

Hello everyone! It's January 26, 2015 and today is Day 26 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 4 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

This is a still life oil painting of three jars of orange marmalade along with a wooden spoon and a red and white dish cloth.

Of all the jams, spreads, and jellies out there, orange marmalade has got to be my absolute favorite! I can remember eating it when I was a kid . . . my dad waking us up to breakfast on the weekends-- and I think it was one of his favorites also because he always served orange marmalade with the toast that he served with the rest of breakfast.

Now, my dad didn't cook that often, while I was growing up as a kid, but when he did, it was a real treat. My dad is an excellent cook and he made the best breakfasts! :)

And he's still an excellent cook. Just don't get to eat his cooking that often, but as I said, when I do, it's a real treat! :)

Anyway, I think I really like how this painting came out! The lighting that I used to paint it wasn't that great, but despite that, I think I was still able to capture a wide range of values in order to make those objects pop out into the foreground from the black background. Achieving this can be challenging when you don't have a strong light source to paint with, so I couldn't be more thrilled at how this one came out!

Just 3 more days to go in the challenge! Yay!!!!

Well, I'll see you tomorrow for Day 27! 'Til then, and 'til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Hello everyone! It's January 25, 2015 and today is Day 25 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

This is a pastel painting of a still life of an onion, wooden spoons, and a canister resting on red fabric.

I'm completely satisfied at how this one came out: Love the dramatic play of light and shadows in this peice and the vibrancy of the red fabric.

Just 5 more days to go in the challenge! Can you believe it! Wow!

Well, that's all for now from the Blog of SamDoum Art!'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care, and God bless!

Day 2: 30 in 30: Every and Anything Series

"Bright Orange Pumpkin" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H
Hello everyone! It's January 2nd, 2015 and today is Day 2 of my 30 Painting's in 30 Days Painting Challenge!

My theme for this 30 Paintings in 30 Days Challenge is "Every and Anything" and over the next 28 days I will be painting every and anything from landscapes, to pet portraits; from people portraits, to still lifes; and so forth! (To learn more about why I chose this theme click HERE.)

Day 2's painting is a beautiful fall painting of an orange pumpkin! Great to decorate any wall space for Halloween or/and Thanksgiving. I know that it's cold outside and that we are in the middle of winter here in the eastern parts of the United States, but I couldn't resist. I just had to paint this pumpkin! It's reference photo nearly jumped of the page at me and said, "Paint me!"

Anyway, I hope you enjoy!

Tomorrow, for Day 3's 30 in 30, I will be unveiling another "Every and Anything" painting. Will it be another still life?, a pet portrait?, a landscape? Hmmmmmm . . . I don't know . . . but if you want to know . . . stay tuned . . .

I'm gonna do it!

I'm gonna do it!!!!!!

Take a look at this photo . . .

Okay! So . . . I guess I'll be doing another 30 in 30 in January! A fellow artist and art buddy, Joan Princing has convinced me!

Joan is a very talented artist (whose work can be seen here) and she will be doing the challenge in January too! Having the support from other fellow artist friends really helps when you are doing a painting challenge and it's always encouraging to get feedback from fellow artists, like Joan. I truly appreciate all of the support and kind words from my fellow artists, and the comments on this blog and Facebook. And despite the 30 in 30 challenges being . . . well, challenging, they are a lot of fun, and frankly, I just don't want to miss out on all the fun! So, Joan, I'll be joining you, in January, for another 30 paintings in 30 days painting challenge! Yaaaaaaay!

Joan is actually the one who suggested and encouraged me to use all of the paintings from two of the previous painting challenges as illustrations for childrens books, as discussed in my last post.

Also in my last post, I discussed how successful the 30 in 30 challenges have been for me, and I gave the two childrens books that I have written, and illustrated, as examples of that success. However, I also told you that I would tell you about the most recent success that I have had with the last 30 in 30 challenge. And here it is:

While in the process of painting for the most recent 30 in 30 Painting challenge that took place back in September 2014, I submitted two separate artworks to an art show at a local gallery here in Rochester NY. The art gallery's name is called "The Shoe Factory," and the two pieces that I submitted were apart of a show there titled "Sirens and Seahorses". Having submitted those two pieces, the director of the gallery became familiar with some of my other art works, (particularly the still life paintings that I had been doing for the 30 in 30 in September) via my blog and website, and requested to see them in person. I showed her all of the still lifes from the 30 in 30 and she then took about 18 of the paintings to hang in her gallery, and made me a new house artist at Shoe Factory! So now about 18 of my 8x10 30 in 30 paintings hang on a 4 by 8 panel in her gallery! And I'm super excited because it truly is a blessing! And if I had not participated in the last 30 in 30, it might not have happened.

Recently, Beth Brown, the director of The Shoe Factory Gallery posted several images on Facebook of my new 4 by 8 panel at The Shoe Factory. And hopefully she doesn't mind, but I've used one of those photos, right here in this blog post -- above, in order to show you my new panel.

So you see, doing another 30 in 30 is so worth it! It can be a bit challenging and overwhelming, and time consuming, but I'm ready to give it a try and do it again! So be sure to keep checking back on The Blog of SamDoum Art in January 2015, and before then, as well, as I will continue posting even up until then.

Well that's all for now! 'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care and God bless!

Should I do it?

"Bald Eagle in Profile" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H
Hello everyone!

Guess what? Leslie Saeta is hosting another 30 in 30 Painting challenge in January! Will I participate? I really don't know, but I'm seriously thinking about it! It's a lot of hard work: 30 paintings in 30 days, but the effort is so worth it! I've had nothing but success stories from doing the 30 in 30 challenges!

During one challenge, my theme had been "animals" and as a result of painting all those animal paintings (30 of 'em to be exact), I was able to create my 2015 Animal Calender and create my gorgeous children's picture book "Grab My Hand", as I used many animal illustrations from that particular 30 in 30 challenge, in both projects.

Also, I used the paintings from another 30 in 30 challenge, as illustrations in another picture book titled "Snowflakes." Both of my children's picture books are now for sale on Amazon.com and can be found here and here.

In my next post, I will tell you about the successes that I've had with the most recent 30 in 30 challenge.

For now, I hope that you enjoy todays painting of a beautiful bald eagle in profile. He has such a serious look on his face, doesn't he? Well, I guess all bald eagles do!

Anyway, I wish you all a wonderful Friday!

Take care fellow art lovers and God bless!

A Lioness in Africa

"A Lioness in Africa" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting FOR SALE: $75.00 + $10.95 S&H

Roooooooar!

This pretty little lady lioness seems pretty calm and is just chillaxing in the grasslands of Africa. Pretty isn't she. Looks so harmless, like you could walk up to her and give her a hug!

Or . . . not! Well at least not in this life! But you know the Bible says that "the wolf and the lamb will live together; the leopard will lie down with the baby goat. The calf and the yearling will be safe with the lion, and a little child will lead them all."

So maybe one day I'll get to hug a lion! Or an elephant!

Elephants are my favorite animals in the whole wide world!

My husbands laughs at me and thinks it's funny when I tell him that I want to hug an elephant.

He's from a country by the name of Chad which is located in Africa; So, he's seen a lot of the exotic animals that we don't normally get a chance to see in the States. As a boy he had several exotic animals, as pets, like monkeys and gorillas.  Lucky him! I want an elephant!

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy today's painting. I sure had a lot of fun painting her!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog today! Take care and God bless! 'Til later fellow art lovers!

An Evening At The Garden of Eden

"An Evening At The Garden of Eden" Oil on Canvas, 12"x 16",
Original Painting FOR SALE: $95.00 + $10.95 S&H

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a happy Monday!

Yesterday I said that I would show you some of the paintings I've been working on over the past few months.

The painting above is perhaps my favorite one out of the bunch, so far.

Landscapes used to be my favorite type of paintings to do for a long time but I had taken a break from them, for a while, to do pet portraits and still lifes. I'm thinking, however, that I'll try doing more landscapes in the future, as I had so much fun painting this one!

There's something mysterious about the mood created here in this piece, and I love the way it glows. In fact, while I was painting it my mom said the same thing about its glowing effect. She was actually painting with me when I painted it and said that its her favorite piece.

What did my mom paint? Well, my mom painted a beautiful painting of an iris, but she's not finished with it yet. It was her first time ever painting but she says she had a lot of fun! Joining us, in painting, were my three little ones: Miriam, Faith, and Sephora, and they created their own little masterpieces too! I will show you my moms painting when she finishes it. It's coming out really great, but I already knew that it would since my mom is an awesome artist! I remember watching her draw and also remember asking her to draw for me when I was a kid. So I knew she'd be an awesome painter too!

Anyway, in my next post, I'll show you another painting I've been working on.

'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care and God bless!

My Visit to Main Street Arts in Clifton Springs

Take a look at these photos . . .

Pretty cool, eh?

Yesterday afternoon, my husband, our three little girls, and I traveled to Clifton Springs in order to take a look at all of the artwork on display at a gallery, there, called Main Street Arts. I have a painting on display there titled, "Lemons in a Copper Bowl", as well, which is apart of the "Small Works" exhibit.

Not only did we take a look downstairs at the small works exhibit, but we also took a look upstairs at the many other works of art and photography. We had a lot of fun and the girls really got a kick out of the ice sculptures outside the gallery.

The director of the gallery is Bradley Butler, and I was happy to meet him, as well. He was nothing like I expected though. I had been exchanging emails with him ever since I had expressed interest in wanting to be apart of his small works show, and I had imagined him being at least in his fifty's or sixties, grey haired, and older. But to my surprise Bradley Butler is a very young man, probably younger than me, and it's so cool to see someone so young, be successful in art. I'm really impressed!

I was fortunate to have Bradley accept my "Lemons in Copper Bowl" painting into the show, as an accident happened with the original painting that had gotten accepted, as I mistakenly tore a hole in the canvas of the painting while trying to prep the piece for hanging. I then sent an email to Bradley, explaining the accident and attached, to the email, images of a few more of my other paintings and he, fortunately, decided that he would still take another painting which turned out to be "Lemons in a Copper Bowl."

I was told yesterday, by another young woman who works at the gallery that Bradley really loves the Lemon painting so things worked out! Yay!

Anyway, here is the original painting that had gotten accepted before the tear:

And here is the Lemon painting again which now hangs at Main Street Arts  . . .

Well, this kind of turned out to be somewhat of a long post! I had intended to share with you some of my new paintings that I have been working on. But, I'll have to show you them tomorrow, instead, as I like to keep my posts short and sweet, and I fear this one may be a little too long.

Anyway, til tomorrow! Take care and God bless! Later fellow art lovers!

The 30 in 30 Painting Challenge Has Ended!

Hello everyone!

It's October 1st, 2014, and Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge is finally over!

Yayyyy!

Now, yes, I did miss a few days, some of which I made up. Others of which I did not, but Leslie Saeta, the artist who hosted the challenge says, "The only rule is to have fun" and It's okay if you miss a few days, no one will probably notice, except you!"

I don't know if I'm the only one who noticed my missing a few days, but despite it being a challenge I sure had a lot of fun, and all in all I'd have to say that I'm pretty proud of myself. And I'm especially proud of all the other artists who participated! They don't call in a challenge for nuthin' because this challenge has been awfully challenging! :)

I just want to take the time out to say a huge thank you to all of you who have been following The Blog of SamDoum Art throughout this challenge. Especially those of you who have commented on Facebook and on this blog, and those of you who have shared my posts.

Above is a collage that I made (on a site called Picmonkey) of at least 25 of the paintings that I created.

Below are images of all of the paintings that I created with links.

I hope you enjoy! 'Til later fellow art lovers!

Day 28 of 30 in 30 : "Silver & Lime with Flowers"

"Silver & Lime with Flowers" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting,  $50+$10.95 Shipping & Handling

Today marks the twenty-eighth day of Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge! And I am super pleased and excited to present to you my twenty-eighth oil painting for the challenge titled "Silver & Lime with Flowers" !

"Silver & Lime with Flowers" is the twenty-eighth oil painting still life in my "Metal and Glass" series. Over the next two days, all of the subject matters for my paintings will consist of either metal or glass or both. To learn more about why I chose "Metal and Glass" as my theme for the challenge click here!

Do you know what today is? . . .  It's our anniversary! (In my "Tony Toni Tone" voice). Yep, Today my husband and I celebrate seven years of marriage! I'm an extremely blessed woman! I love my husband so much, and I thank God for not only placing him in my life as a friend, but also my soul mate. It feels so good to be loved so much by someone who already knows all of your flaws. I have nothing to hide with him and he takes me as is. I never have to pretend to be anyone else with him. He takes me just the way I am. Such a blessing! That's the way true love should be!

Anyway, we plan to spend the day celebrating. I don't know what we will do, or where we will go, but whatever we do or wherever we go, I'm sure it will be fun. Maybe dinner and a movie? It doesn't matter. As long as I do it with him I am one happy woman! :)

My mom will be watching the girls for us tonight while we go out and celebrate. Thank you mom! Love you so much!

Anyway, I really like this little painting a lot. Love the blues, whites, yellows, and greens, and hope that you love them too!

Well folks, that's all for now! Take care fellow art lovers, and have a fantastic day!

"Red & Blue Marbles" is the twenty-seventh oil painting still life in my "Metal and Glass" series. Over the next three days, all of the subject matters for my paintings will consist of either metal or glass or both. To learn more about why I chose "Metal and Glass" as my theme for the challenge click here!

Wow! I really like how this one came out! I've never painted marbles before, but they are really fun to paint and I enjoyed every moment of the experience. Painting marbles are really fun and I think that I will probably be painting more of them in the future! :)

In other news, I've recently been working really hard trying to build my art portfolio, submitting works to local galleries, and entering art competitions. So far I've gotten into one of the local galleries, here in Rochester, NY. And I am waiting on word from another Gallery in Clifton Springs New York. So, wish me luck! :)

Anyway, I wish everyone a great Saturday! Enjoy your weekend! 'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care and God bless!

"Pink Rose with Glass" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting,  $30+$10.95 Shipping & Handling

Today marks the twenty-sixth day of Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge! And I am super pleased and excited to present to you my twenty-sixth oil painting for the challenge titled "Pink Rose with Glass" !

"Pink Rose with Glass" is the twenty-sixth oil painting still life in my "Metal and Glass" series. Over the next four days, all of the subject matters for my paintings will consist of either metal or glass or both. To learn more about why I chose "Metal and Glass" as my theme for the challenge click here!

I think this particular painting may be perceived as a little "girly", with all the pink in the pink rose and pink background, so it may not appeal to the male species. But I think that this painting would make a terrific painting for not just any woman, but even any man. However whether you are  male or female, I really do hope that you enjoy today's painting! :)

Anyway, I hope that you have a fantastic Friday! The weekend is finally here, so get out and enjoy! My husband and I will be celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary this weekend! :)

'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care and God bless!

I think that I like
how the oranges came out most of all in this piece. And maybe the blue fabric too.

I can't believe it! Just five more days left and the 30 in 30 Challenge will be over! Almost there! Gotta keep pressin' on. It's definitely been a challenge, but I can do it! And I will do it, Lord willing. Hopefully, I won't miss anymore days.
