Day 5 of 30 in 30 : "Silver Teapot, Pear, and Plum"

"Silver Teapot, Pear, and Plum" Oil on Canvas, 8"x 10", Original Painting, $50+$10.95 Shipping & Handling
Today marks the fifth day of Leslie Saeta's 30 Paintings in 30 Days Painting Challenge! And I am super pleased and excited to present to you my fifth oil painting for the challenge titled "Silver Teapot, Pear, and Plum"!

"Silver Teapot, Pear, and Plum"
is the fifth oil painting still life in my "Metal and Glass" series. Over the next 25 days, all of the subject matters for my paintings will consist of either metal or glass or both. To learn more about why I chose "Metal and Glass" as my theme for the challenge click here!

What do I like most about this painting? Well, I think I like the black background most of all, as black backgrounds in paintings tend to make the painted images "pop" out into space, and also, help to create more depth in the painting. One thing I've learned from going to art school is that dark colors (like the black background) tend to recede. And the lighter, brighter colors (like the silver teapot, pear, and plum) tend to advance out into space. It's a cool painters trick when creating depth is desired.

Secondly,
another thing that I like about this painting are the reflections on the silver teapot which are picked up from the plum and pear.

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy today's painting!

'Til later fellow art lovers! Take care and God bless!

  1. WOW! What do I like about this painting?..... That awesome silver teapot!!! Most definitely. It looks like you could just pick that teapot right off the painting and use it. Awesome details and super reflections!! You are doing it!! Great work, Samara.
